Getting around

The nearest railway station to Hitcham is at Stowmarket and all land travel in and out of the village is restricted to the roads. A number of private bus companies offer weekday bus travel to Ipswich, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds, but there are no services on Sundays or any evenings. Most households own at least one motor vehicle.

The B1115 north to south road is the main highway through Hitcham and has a 30mph speed restriction on most of its length. Minor roads link neighbouring villages and outlying parts of the village. The roads are maintained by Suffolk County Council.

Work has recently been completed on rationalising and refurbishing Hitcham's extensive network of footpaths: click here for an interactive map!
